What a wild night at the center of speed, Wiscasset
Raceway for the Nelcar Legends Car series. The night
started with heat racing as it was the dominator at
Wiscasset, the 20 of Max Zachem to take the lead early
on and take home the victory easily with the 10 of Ed
Getty and the 57 of Jason Palmer finishing second and
third. Feature racing though was very exciting. The
race started with the 80 of Marc Fuchswanz and the 17
of T.W. Kirk on the front row. The race went green and
Kirk took the early lead as fourth place starter Evan
Beaulieu in the 56 car followed into second. The two
would duel it out for the lead until around lap four
when the 7 of Patrick Stewart spun on the backstretch
and backed his car in the wall. The race resumed with
Kirk and Beaulieu once again dueling for the lead. The
two ran side by side for two laps until the unknown
from Connecticut in the 57, Jason Palmer made it three
wide and took the lead as Beaulieu got around Kirk for
second and Zachem started to make his way to the front
in third. A few laps later Zachem grabbed second and
set his sights on Palmer. The two would duel it for
the win until Beaulieu running a career best third got
loose out of turn two and spun, the 399 of Bob
Weymouth just barely clipped him and the 10 of Ed
Getty got stove up on the rear of Weymouth. Racing
continued with Palmer keeping his lead and taking home
his first Nelcar win in only his first race. Zachem
ended up second and third went to Weymouth. In two
more weeks the series returns to Wiscasset on July
6th. And don't forget to come see the series every
Thursday night at the Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.
